Brunnenkopf grazing experiment: drone flights in 2023

The Brunnenkopf project has been investigating the influence of re-grazing on an abandoned alpine pasture since 2018. Every year, the condition of the pasture is documented during the alpine summer. This year, Alexander Krämer from WWL (Environmental Planning and Geoinformatics) once again successfully had a drone with a fixed pattern scan the approximately seven-hectare pasture. Black and white metal plates placed in the field are used for georeferencing for subsequent remote sensing analyses.

The impressive 3D results can be viewed in more detail at https://skfb.ly/oJTGY. As this season was initially dry but has since become very rainy, the seven young cows (Murnau-Werdenfelser and Tiroler Grauvieh) are leaving clearly visible traces of grazing, the influence of which on soil functions and biodiversity is currently being analyzed.
