Remote sensing field campaigns completed

In cooperation of KIT, DLR, WWL and the University of Bayreuth, a remote sensing campaign was conducted for the last time in selected grassland areas in the region south of Bayreuth from April 17 to 20, 2023. Due to the earlier sampling period and relatively cool and wet weather, lower grassland emergence and earlier plant development stage was observed compared to 2022. The field study collected data on yield and biodiversity of grassland of different management intensities, which will be used to improve remote sensing models based on drone and satellite imagery.

On 04 May, another remote sensing campaign focusing on grassland biomass took place at the Fendt and Rottenbuch sites.
