Bernd Berauer successfully completes his doctorate

Bernd Berauer (Chair of Disturbance Ecology, University of Bayreuth) successfully defended his dissertation at the University of Bayreuth on 16.10.2020. In his dissertation within the SUSALPS project, Bernd Berauer was able to show that subalpine plant communities have a low resistance to abrupt climate changes (warming, reduction of precipitation). Besides a reduction in productivity, a steady loss of species with warming could be shown. Mr Berauer also succeeded in showing that extensively managed grasslands were able to maintain constant productivity under drought conditions, while more intensive management (multiple mowing, increased use of fertiliser) led to losses in biomass production.
